LET YOUR GRIEF FLAG FLY

Quote Mark
Quote Mark

Adventures in Miscarriage is an urgently necessary film.

Miscarriage is usually the cause of profound grief, and even clinically recognizable trauma. Yet it remains woefully misunderstood and supported by healthcare systems. This film has the potential to change this truth.”

— Julia Bueno, Psychotherapist & Author of The Brink of Being: Talking About Miscarriage

About the Film

One in four pregnancies will end before 20 weeks

Emmy-nominated filmmaker Cheryl Furjanic pulls back the curtain on reproductive injustice in post-Roe America by exploring the world’s most common pregnancy complication: miscarriage. Calling on the powers of dark comedy, absurdist performance, intimate interviews, and queer camp, Cheryl realizes she’s on an adventure she didn’t anticipate. Unfolding in real-time, the making of ADVENTURES IN MISCARRIAGE begins to unlock the filmmaker’s trauma and healing from her own pregnancy loss.

The person who is going through the grief and going through the trauma is just waiting for that invitation to be told that there was something lost that is here. By not acknowledging the grief we are neglecting a huge part of the story that never gets again coherence or stability for us.
